Main features of Wireless Headphones

Wireless headphones are currently an essential accessory for hundreds of people, so there are countless models on the market. This large number of models can make it a bit difficult for us to decide on one or the other.

In this publication we will be describing the main features of wireless headphones, so you can have a little help when buying bluetooth headphones.

Different types of wireless headphones

So that you have an idea of which may be the wireless headphones that best suit your requirements, we describe each of the types that exist:

Circumaural headphones (Over-Ear): they are large since they completely cover the earlobe and fit around the ear. They are not compact and cannot be folded so they are not very portable. On the other hand, they provide better insulation, they are comfortable to wear and the sound quality is very good.
Supraaural headphones (On-Ear): these models cover the auditory pavilion and are used over the ear. They are more compact than circumaurals so they are easier to transport, but they provide lower sound quality and do not offer as much noise isolation as the previous ones.
In-ear headphones (In-Ear): they are small, light and portable. You can save them anywhere. They are used inside the auditory pavilion and can be somewhat uncomfortable to use if you listen to music for a long time. It is important that these models have cushions that adapt well to the morphology of your ear.
Features of wireless headphones
Other information that you should consider before deciding on your bluetooth headphones is that concerning its main characteristics.

Sensitivity:

refers to the output power and is represented in decibels (dB). For the human ear, a maximum of 100 dB is recommended, higher values can cause injuries.
Impedance: this is measured in ohms (ohm) and indicates the resistance to the passage of electrical current. While the value is lower, the volume will be higher, although this does not imply better audio quality. If this value is too high, you may experience problems with a lack of power, especially if you listen to music from a mobile device. To listen to music from a smartphone, an impedance of 16 or 32 ohms is recommended.
Power: This is the electrical power of the headphones, this is measured in milliwatts (mW).
Response Frequency: This is the range of frequencies that the headset reproduces and is measured in Hertz (Hz). Ideally, it should provide frequencies from 20 to 20,000 Hz, which are the frequencies audible to the human ear.
Autonomy: refers to the autonomy of the battery of the wireless headphones. Circumaural and supra-aural models offer a battery life of several days. For their part, in-ear models offer between five and eight hours. You should also check if they have fast charging, this will save you time.
Bluetooth Version: This feature affects audio quality, range, and battery consumption. The best thing is that the wireless headphones incorporate the Bluetooth 5.0 version, which is the latest version of the standard, otherwise the other option is the Bluetooth 4.1 version.
Bluetooth profiles – These profiles determine the commands and functions that can be exchanged using bluetooth technology. The HFP (Hands Free Profile) and HSP (Headset Profile) profiles are required for common Bluetooth mono headset tasks. The AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) and A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) profiles are required by stereo headphones.
Bluetooth Codec: These are the software used to compress and encode audio that is transmitted wirelessly over Bluetooth, and allow for fast transmission. The main codecs are as follows: SBC is the standard, but it has somewhat high latency and can also be noisy; AAC provides better sound quality than the former; aptX encodes audio more efficiently improving sound quality; LDAC is Sony’s technology, which can transmit up to three times more data than SBC and optimizes sound quality.
